EMDR, or rapid eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, is best known for the significant results it has yielded with veterans and people who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. EMDR has been proven to clear symptoms without the retraumtization typical of more traditional methods. EMDR is also effective in resolving phobias and long-standng negative beliefs we have about ourselves that prevent us from reaching our potential, or that keep us stuck in painful situations.

For many, EMDR has provided the means to unblock the natural capacities for resilience, ingenuity, and self-healing that we all possess.

EMDR engages the mind and senses in a way that facilitates and accelerates information processing, much in the same way as REM patterns do in sleep. It is has been shown to dramatically reduce the length of time required for successful treatment. While it may not be appropriate for everyone, EMDR does have the advantage of helping where other treatment methods fail; it is especially effective for those who do not respond to more traditional therapies.
